Freeport-McMoRan Morenci Inc. seeks Mechanical Engineer II for its Morenci, Arizona location to perform the following job duties:
Under general supervision, provide technical advice and guidance for all phases of assigned mechanical engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost. Participate as a team member to review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding assigned engineering projects. Contribute to mechanical engineering design plans and requirements. Serve as Project Manager or technical advisor, on small-to-medium site engineering projects, which may include the development of new or modification to existing systems and processes. Responsibilities include project development, budgeting, appropriation request (AR) preparation, contract management, electrical engineering, purchasing, construction, cost controls, quality controls, implementation, and start up. Develop mechanical engineering projects utilizing new technology to constantly upgrade and improve site safety, efficiencies, cost controls, quality controls and protection of the environment. Participate with operations and maintenance departments and other engineering staff in problem solving efforts to improve safety, efficiencies, cost controls and protection of the environment. Provide technical and mechanical engineering support to assigned groups/departments at site. Assist operations and maintenance departments with the implementation of new technology. Coordinate project activities with operations and maintenance departments to facilitate project completion. Ensure appropriate documentation for assigned projects are prepared and review documentation for accuracy. Ensure successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budget time and cost constraints.
Minimum Requirements : Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and two (2) years related experience in engineering. In the alternative, we will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in engineering. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.
Skills: Experience must include the following: Developing and maintaining awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; Following safety practices and recognizing hazards; and Knowledge of the principles and practices of Mechanical Engineering.
