Generates new customer leads and sells the Company’s products and services to existing and new accounts. The incumbent develops and maintains strong customer relationships with various levels and functions to assure effective implementation of market and product strategies that create value for the organization and the customer. Supervises Customer Service staff, managing the entire order process for all orders.

  • Sells Company’s products and services to chemical, metallurgical, and new product accounts over a broad and diverse geographical region

  • Manages customer relationships within the target market segments, periodically making contact to develop the business with each client and following through on customer inquiries and complaints

  • Conducts customer research to identify potential sales opportunities and maintains new and existing relationships necessary to achieve additional sales when needed Using sales skills, develops strong customer relationships to gain incremental value from accounts

  • Provides accurate forecasts to the Company over various time horizons in order to optimize value creation for the customer and the company using Advanced Planning Optimization modules of SAP

  • Aligns sales efforts toward achieving short and intermediate-term strategic sales goals, primarily focused on placing opportune inventory into the market

  • Supervises Customer Service Staff, managing the entire order process for all orders

  • Negotiates sales agreements, calculates netbacks to monitor margin targets, and drafts contracts for legal and management review

  • Communicates market feedback and intelligence to management needed to develop global sales strategy

  • Assists broader sales force in updating and maintaining accurate and timely data input into the ERP and SAP CRM

  • Performs other duties as requested

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Materials Science, Engineering, or other related fieldandfive (5) years of Sales and Marketing experience

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience in making pricing decisions

  • Demonstrated ability in handling customer demands and production issues

  • Demonstrated work history of working with minimal supervision while delivering measurable results

  • Practices and leverages a safety culture in all aspects of the job

Preferred

  • Demonstrated leadership and/or supervisory experience

  • Strong computer skills: proficient in the use of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, SharePoint and ability to learn other business systems (SAP APO, SAP CRM, Concur, etc.)

  • Requires the ability to travel up to 30% of the time, visiting suppliers, customers, and prospective customers, attending trade conventions and other networking opportunities over a broad geographical area, which requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and use rail and air transportation as appropriate

  • Location requires mobility in an office environment

  • Occasionally work may be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting

  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk

  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
